Terms of Service
These Terms govern the Share Society website and, when available to you, the Share Society app and marketplace.
Pre-launch status. Share Society is launching in stages. The website and waitlist may be available before live marketplace payments. A feature described below applies only when it is actually made available to you in the app. Nothing in these Terms turns an unreleased feature into a promise that it is already available.
1. Share Society
Share Society (“Share Society”, “we”, “us”) operates a marketplace that helps people share the cost of eligible multi-person or add-on subscription plans. A user who makes eligible provider-plan capacity available through Share Society is a host. A user who joins that capacity is a member.
Share Society is independent of the subscription providers whose names, plans, trademarks or logos appear in the service. Those names and marks belong to their respective owners. Unless we state otherwise, a provider has not partnered with, endorsed or approved Share Society.
2. The website and launch waitlist
You may use the public website without creating a Share Society account. Joining the launch waitlist does not create a marketplace account, reserve a group place, lock a price, guarantee access to a plan or guarantee that a requested provider will become available.
When you join the waitlist, you provide your name, email address and subscription interest so we can operate the waitlist and contact you about launch availability. See our Privacy Policy. You may ask us to remove your waitlist record at any time.
3. Supported providers and plans
Support is specific to a provider, exact plan, market and sharing mechanic. A compatible plan may be shown as Coming Soon before Share Society is ready to transact it. Only a plan that the app identifies as available may be transacted through the marketplace.
Provider eligibility can change. Providers may change prices, capacity, geographic restrictions, household/family rules, billing channels or other terms. We may therefore add, limit, suspend or remove a provider or plan where current evidence no longer supports the Share Society flow.
Share Society does not help users bypass provider restrictions. Each user remains responsible for meeting the provider-specific requirements that apply to the plan they use.
4. Accounts and eligibility
Joining a group, starting a group, making a marketplace payment and using account features require a Share Society account. You must provide accurate information, use an account you are entitled to use and keep your sign-in credentials secure.
Share Society is not intended for children under 13. You must also meet the age, country, household, family, team or other eligibility rules that apply to the exact provider plan you join or host.
5. Starting and joining groups
A host may list eligible unused capacity in a supported provider plan. Share Society determines the approved provider-cost allocation from reviewed provider pricing, capacity and plan mechanics. A host may not use Share Society to add an arbitrary markup or profit to the underlying provider subscription.
Share Society may allow a host to recruit members before the host purchases or upgrades to the required provider plan. The host must truthfully state that they intend and are able to obtain and maintain the capacity needed for activation. The intended start date is a target, not an automatic cancellation deadline.
While a group is still recruiting, an accepted member may withdraw before activation. Joining a recruiting group does not by itself mean that a marketplace payment has already been collected.
A host may activate a group before every provider seat is filled where the supported plan mechanic permits it. Unused or privately occupied provider capacity remains the host’s responsibility and does not increase an existing member’s approved provider-cost share.
6. Host appointment of Share Society
When a host publishes and operates a marketplace listing, the host appoints Share Society on a non-exclusive basis as the host’s commercial marketplace agent for that listing. Within the rules and pricing shown by Share Society, this appointment allows Share Society to present the approved cost-sharing terms to prospective members, coordinate member commitments, conclude the Share Society cost-sharing arrangement, collect the approved provider-cost share on the host’s behalf, administer agreed cancellations and refunds, and account for host reimbursement as it becomes earned.
This appointment is limited to the Share Society marketplace relationship. It does not make Share Society the seller or reseller of the underlying provider subscription, does not transfer ownership of the provider account to Share Society, and does not authorise Share Society to bind the provider.
Share Society separately charges its own marketplace/service fee for operating the platform.
7. Pricing and marketplace fees
Before you authorise a marketplace payment, the app shows the provider-cost share, Share Society’s separate fee, the billing period and any applicable renewal terms.
Current launch policy uses a normal Share Society fee of 5% of the member’s approved provider-cost share plus S$1.49 per active subscription-month. A founding promotion may reduce the fixed component to S$0.99 per active subscription-month for eligible users while that promotion applies. The amount actually shown before authorisation governs your transaction.
The fixed Share Society fee belongs to the subscription-month, not to the number of processor charges. Combining several monthly subscriptions into one charge does not turn them into one subscription or remove the separate underlying fee and service state for each arrangement.
8. Monthly billing
Monthly is the flexible billing option. Where technically possible, several monthly Share Society subscriptions due in the same billing window may be combined into one buyer charge. Each underlying subscription still keeps its own provider-cost allocation, Share Society fee, service period, access status, refund state, host earning and cancellation state.
Card payments may support recurring or off-session charging where you have given the required consent and the processor permits it. PayNow requires the payment action shown to you when payment is due.
9. Annual billing
Annual is Share Society’s recommended/default commercial option where offered. Under the current launch policy, an Annual term provides twelve months of service for the equivalent of eleven normal subscription-month totals — described as one month free. Share Society funds that discount; it does not reduce the host’s underlying approved provider-cost reimbursement for the twelve-month service term.
An Annual payment is collected upfront. The host does not earn twelve months of reimbursement on day one; host reimbursement accrues month by month as the underlying service is provided.
The price of an already-paid Annual term is not retroactively changed because a provider later changes its price. A reviewed price change may apply at renewal. We aim to give advance notice of renewal price changes where the provider’s timing allows.
Card Annual may renew automatically where the payment mandate and the product shown to you support renewal. PayNow Annual requires an active/manual renewal payment. The renewal terms shown before purchase and before renewal apply.
10. Payment processing
Stripe processes marketplace payments and host connected payout accounts. Card details are entered through Stripe-hosted payment surfaces; Share Society does not receive your full card number.
Share Society is not a bank and the marketplace does not provide a consumer wallet. Host earnings cannot be topped up, spent on Share Society, transferred between users or directed to arbitrary third parties.
Do not interpret a Stripe balance, Share Society host-earnings display or payment status as “escrow”, “safeguarded funds” or money held in trust unless Share Society expressly creates and verifies such a structure. We currently make no such promise.
11. Activation and access
The host is responsible for obtaining and maintaining the provider capacity required for the group and for completing the provider’s own invitation or access steps. Members are responsible for accepting provider invitations and meeting the provider’s eligibility rules.
When the host activates a recruiting group, Share Society begins the applicable payment-collection flow. Saved cards may be charged where permitted and may require additional authentication. PayNow members complete the payment action presented to them.
Share Society records access based on the marketplace flow and participant reports. Share Society does not independently control the provider’s service and does not guarantee that a third-party provider will continue a plan or access feature indefinitely.
12. 48-hour access-protection window
After access is provided, the member receives a 48-hour access-protection window. The member may confirm access earlier or report an access problem during the window. A reported problem blocks or places under review the affected host earning.
If no access problem is reported before the window expires, the relevant host earning may accrue according to the marketplace rules. Each member-host relationship is tracked separately; a problem affecting one member does not automatically rewrite another member’s payment or access state.
13. Cancellations and refunds
A member may withdraw from a recruiting group before activation. Because marketplace payment is not ordinarily collected merely for joining a recruiting group, withdrawal before activation should not create an earned host reimbursement.
If money has been captured for service that cannot start or must be cancelled before access is delivered, Share Society will process the applicable refund rather than treating unprovided service as earned.
If Annual access permanently fails before the paid term ends, the member is entitled under the current Share Society policy to a pro-rata refund for the unused service period, including the corresponding unearned Share Society marketplace fees.
Other refund outcomes depend on the billing option, the point in the service lifecycle, the reason for the failure, applicable provider-specific rules and mandatory consumer law. The app will show material payment and cancellation terms before you commit.
A refund may not always return through the same processor rail that originally collected the payment. In particular, Share Society may need to use an alternative verified refund path for a valid PayNow refund that arises outside the payment processor’s native refund window.
Share Society does not offer insurance, a protection plan or a blanket guarantee against provider or participant failure beyond the refund and support rules actually stated in the service.
14. Host earnings and payouts
A host earns only the approved provider-cost reimbursement attributable to service actually earned under the marketplace rules. Share Society’s service fee belongs to Share Society and is separate from host reimbursement.
Host earnings accrue month by month, including where a member paid for an Annual term upfront. The host balance displayed by Share Society is an earned-payables ledger, not a wallet.
Current launch policy uses a normal payout threshold of S$30 in earned balance. Once the threshold is reached, settlement should begin as soon as the payment system safely allows. The app distinguishes earned, pending-settlement and paid states; a processor transfer, connected-account balance and arrival in a host bank account are not the same event.
An early payout option below S$30 is not promised unless the app actually offers it and shows the applicable minimum and fee before the host requests it.
15. Share Society Pro
Share Society Pro is an optional App Store subscription purchased through Apple and managed through RevenueCat. The live StoreKit price shown by Apple in the app governs the purchase; Share Society’s current launch target is S$3.99 per month.
Current launch benefits include multiple active joined groups, priority on genuine Share Society waitlists, early access to newly available capacity where operationally meaningful, and light Pro status recognition. Hosting does not require Pro.
During an eligible founding promotion, continuous Pro may be the condition for retaining the promotional S$0.99 fixed marketplace-fee component. Current policy allows a 30-day grace period after a Pro lapse before that founding-rate benefit is permanently lost. The app will state whether the founding promotion is active and whether you qualify.
Pro does not create better refund rights for marketplace payments. Apple controls billing, renewal and cancellation of the Pro subscription. Deleting a Share Society account does not itself cancel an Apple subscription.
16. User and host responsibilities
You agree not to:
- misrepresent your identity, plan, provider capacity, eligibility or access status;
- create fake household, family, team or other relationships to bypass provider rules;
- share provider passwords or credentials where the provider does not permit it;
- use Share Society to resell a provider subscription for profit;
- commit fraud, chargeback abuse, payment manipulation or payout abuse;
- harass, threaten or abuse another participant; or
- use Share Society for unlawful, harmful or deceptive activity.
Hosts must maintain the provider capacity they activate for members and must not remove committed/active marketplace capacity underneath an existing member except through a supported cancellation or failure process.
17. Messaging, reports and moderation
Share Society messaging is participant-scoped and exists to coordinate groups and arrangements. It is not a public posting service.
Users may block or report another participant or report message content. We may hide content, restrict messaging, suspend a group or account, preserve report evidence, or take other proportionate action where we reasonably believe there is fraud, abuse, safety risk, a breach of these Terms or a provider-rule problem that prevents the marketplace arrangement from continuing.
18. Account suspension, closure and deletion
We may suspend or close an account or group where reasonably necessary to protect users, payment integrity, provider-rule compliance or the service. We will not represent an unresolved payment, refund or settlement as completed merely because an account was suspended or deleted.
You can initiate account deletion inside the app. Deletion removes the ordinary identity/profile relationship but does not erase another participant’s records or unresolved financial obligations. See the Privacy Policy for how deletion and retained records work.
19. Intellectual property
The Share Society name, branding, website, software and original content are owned by Share Society or its licensors and may not be copied or used except as permitted by law or these Terms.
Provider names, trademarks and logos remain the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify provider plans and features. Their presence does not imply affiliation, partnership or endorsement.
20. Third-party services and disclaimers
The underlying subscription service is supplied by the relevant third-party provider, not by Share Society. Providers may change or discontinue plans, prices, benefits, capacity, technical access or eligibility rules.
To the extent permitted by law, Share Society is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, that every group will fill, that every provider will remain supported, or that a third-party provider will continue to honour a plan indefinitely.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.
21. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Share Society is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss caused solely by the independent actions of a provider or another user. Where liability can lawfully be limited, Share Society’s aggregate liability for a claim relating to a particular paid marketplace service will not exceed the amount paid to Share Society for that service giving rise to the claim.
This section does not limit liability that cannot be limited under applicable law and does not remove the express refund rights stated in these Terms.
22. Changes to Share Society and these Terms
We may change, suspend or discontinue parts of Share Society as the product, provider catalogue, law or payment infrastructure changes. We may update these Terms for the same reasons. We will update the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify users of material changes through the app, website or email.
A paid Annual term is not retroactively repriced merely because these Terms or a provider price changes during that already-paid term.
23. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. The courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any mandatory consumer rights or mandatory jurisdiction rules that apply to you.
24. Apple
For the iOS app, Apple’s applicable App Store terms and Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also apply to the extent required. Apple is not responsible for the Share Society marketplace or the third-party provider plans coordinated through it.
